Reducing noise exposure

Reducing noise exposure

In accordance with the law of the Russian Federation, no residential buildings, including standalone residential buildings, landscape and recreation zones, recreation areas, resort areas, etc. shall be placed within the boundaries of control zones established at the Group's production facilities. Within the limits of the control zones and beyond, the levels of physical and chemical exposure comply with the approved standards. The level of noise exposure at the border of the controlled zone is monitored on an annual basis.:

To reduce the noise exposure of the environment and nearby residential areas, the Group's facilities undertake to implement and reconstruct the silencers. Sources of noise exposure can be air intakes of blowers, mouths of chimneys, compressor rooms, as well as the steam discharged when the boilers perform shutting down or start-up operations, etc. The assessment of noise exposure of the environment and applicable protection measures are defined at the design stage. The protective measures are implemented during the construction or modernization of production assets.:

In 2019, the following activities were performed:

  • Insulation of equipment (rotary chimney section) at Talakhovskaya TPP with advanced noise-absorbing panels and resulting in noise reduction within the boundaries of residential buildings to sanitary standards.
  • At Tomsk GRES-2, the process of reconstruction of silencers and main safety valves at boilers of st. No. 7 and No. 8 (work expected to be completed in 2020).
