Atmospheric air protection

Atmospheric air protection
332,000 tons Emissions of significant types of pollutants in 2019
-7,2 % Reduction of SOx emissions in the atmosphere in 2019 y-o-y
-3,7 % Decrease in the mass of solids emissions into the atmosphere 2019 y-o-y

Combustion of coal fuel accounts to most pollutant emissions into the atmosphere among all types of power generation. It is worth noting that the structure of the fuel balance of the Group's generating assets has changed towards an increase of the gas fuel share. The modernization of generating capacities contributes to the reduction of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. To reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, Inter RAO Group also undertakes to increase the efficiency of ash collecting plants ensuring more efficient capture of solid particles. Additionally, to prevent negative effects, the generating facilities are equipped with continuous emission control systems.

In general, the level of pollutant emissions decreased compared to 2018. The main factor in reducing the specific emissions of pollutants was a decrease in the production of coal-fired electricity and heat.
