This decision was taken on November 25, 2009 by the Board of Directors of JSC INTER RAO UES which terminated the authority of Evgeniy Dod as Chairman of the Management Board of the company in connection with his appointment to the position of the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC RusHydro.
B.Yu. Kovalchuk was born in 1977 in Leningrad. He graduated from St. Petersburg State University with a major in law.
Before his appointment to the position of the Acting Chairman of the Management Board of JSC INTER RAO UES B.Yu. Kovalchuk worked as Director of the Department of Priority National Projects of the Government of the Russian Federation and from April 2009 was Deputy General Director of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, where he supervised issues related to the strategic development of JSC INTER RAO UES.
JSC INTER RAO UES is the largest exporter and importer of electric power in the country. The company manages a whole range of electric power assets in Russia and abroad. The appointment of B.Yu. Kovalchuk to the position of the Acting Chairman of the Management Board will encourage successful implementation of the company’s ambitious plans to broaden and diversify its activities and will help to make JSC INTER RAO UES one of the largest energy companies.
The move of E.V. Dod to JSC RusHydro and the appointment of B.Yu. Kovalchuk will result in closer interaction and development of synergy in the activities of both companies, which, doubtless, will be beneficial to the development of the Russian electric power industry.
