The electric power supply activity is undertaken by the subsidiary OJSC INTER RAO UES in Orel. The subsidiary was founded in 2005 for realization of the electricity supply activity in Orel Region. In the framework of the electric power sector reform in 2006 the subsidiary was awarded the status of energy provider of last resort in the territory of Orel and neighborhood centers of the Orel Region. In 2008 the branch was granted the status of wholesale electricity market party with a view to acquire electric energy on one's own initiative on the wholesale electricity and power market of RF.
The Orel Subsidiary effects the sale of electric power on the retail market in Orel region and renders support services. The branch services the consumers in 6 cities and 17 districts of the region and supplies electric power to more than 200 thousand subscribers in Orel and neighborhood centers of the Orel Region. The Subsidiary’s subscribers amount to 31% of the total electric power consumed in region.
