Assets management

In managing its foreign assets JSC INTER RAO UES (hereinafter referred to as the Company) is guided by the following principles:

  • the improvement of the financial and economic indices of the foreign companies’ activity;
  • the expansion of the operational and electric power sales activity, the obtaining of extra gains on external markets;
  • the increase of the Company’s capitalization.

The system applied to the management of the said assets is based on the standards accepted by JSC RAO UES of Russia and is focused on the increase of the shareholder’s business value, which increase is ensured due to:

  • an improving quality of the operating activity;
  • sustainable payments for the electric power (capacities) supplied
  • a parallel operation of the energy systems in the neighboring countries of UES of Russia;
  • the expanding geographic footprint of the export and import operations;
  • organizational and technical preparation for the penetration to new energy markets.

ARMENIA

JSC Armianskaya Atomnaya Electrostantsia
(Armenian Nuclear Power Plant)

Installed capacity: 815 MW
The Armenian power market is the main consumer. The power plant has been a trust asset of JSC INTER RAO UES since 2003. Under an agreement with the Armenian government, the Company has acquired rights to manage 100% of the nuclear power plant’s stock for 5 years.
The decisions of INTER RAO UES managers proved to be effective even at the earliest stage of company trust management. The operating processes in the plant’s financing and operating management have been improved, and the plant has substantially increased its generated electricity output compared to previous years and maintains output at a consistent high level.

Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC

The Company owns:

  • 8,111 transformer substations
  • 24,300 kilometers of overhead transmission lines
  • 5,300 kilometers of cable transmission lines

ENA CJSC maintains its own overhead and cable transmission facilities, transformer substations and distribution points of 0.4 Ð 110 kV.
There are approximately 950,000 users.
ENA CJSC is one of the largest companies in Armenia. The sustainable operation of ENA CJSC units guarantees the country’s economic stability and social well-being.

Hydroelectric Power Plants Cascade on the Razdan River

The cascade consists of seven hydroelectric power plants on the Razdan River.
Installed capacity: 560 MW
The Sevano-Razdansky hydroelectric power plants cascade was acquired by JSC INTER RAO UES in September 2003.
This facility generates more than 10% of the electricity generated in Armenia.
International Power Corporation CJSC was founded to operate the hydroelectric power plants cascade. Last year, IPC CJSC employees conducted a series of repairs and upgrades on the hydroelectric power plants cascade’s equipment, which increased the power plants’ generating capacity and helped take full advantage of the favorable natural conditions during the 2006 thaw period.

KAZAKHSTAN 

JSC Stantsia Ekibastuzskaya GRES-2

Installed capacity: 1,000 MW
(2 units of 500 MW each)
The first and the second units of the station began operation in 1991 and 1993, respectively. The power plant is currently considered one of the most efficient power generation facilities in Kazakhstan.
The power plant reconstruction plan was approved in 2006; it was also resolved to construct a third unit, which will considerably increase the plant’s generation capacity.

MOLDOVA 

CJSC Moldavskaya GRES

Installed capacity: 2,520 MW
Moldavskaya GRES is a unique power plant using three types of fuel: gas, fuel oil and coal.
In March 2005, Moldavskaya GRES became affiliated with the INTER RAO UES Group.
The power plant is located close to the Ukrainian border and was constructed with the possibility to generate electricity for the citizens of Moldova, Bulgaria and the southern regions of Ukraine. The plant retains its strategic importance to this day.

GEORGIA 

Mtkvari Energy LLC

The company owns the 9th and 10th units of Tbilisskaya GRES.
The installed capacity of each unit is 300 MW.

JSC Khramhesi-1 and Khramhesi-2

The installed capacity of each hydroelectric power plant
is 110 MW.
All the generated electricity is transferred to JSC Telasi for sale.

JSC Telasi

JSC Telasi is a Georgian distribution company supplying electricity to Tbilisi. The company operates an electrical grid with 5,658Êkilometers of transmission lines:

  • 248 km of 110 kV transmission lines
  • 91 km of 35 kV transmission lines
  • 2,110 km of 6-10 kV transmission lines
  • 3,209 km of 0.4 kV transmission lines.

The company provides electricity for more than 410,000 consumers, 95% of which are individuals and 3.7% are commercial companies.

TAJIKISTAN 

JSC Sangtudinskaya GES-1

The power plant’s planned capacity is 670 MW. It is being constructed 200 kilometers south of Dushanbe. 
The Vakhsh River, where the plant is under construction, was dammed in 2006. The plant’s first unit will begin operation in 2007.

UKRAINE

CJSC INTER RAO UES Ukraine

The Company has operated on the energy market of Ukraine and its neighboring countries since September 2000. JSC INTER RAO UES Ukraine’s main lines of business are supplying equipment, machinery and materials for energy generation and general production to meet demand from the energy and fuel industry. The company provides all-inclusive support of investment projects related to participation in construction, re-construction and modernization of power generating facilities.

FINLAND 

RAO Nordic Oy

RAO Nordic Oy is a subsidiary of JSC INTER RAO UES engaged in electricity trading. RAO Nordic Oy has operated on the Scandinavian energy market since 2003 and is one of the largest companies in Finland.  
The company participates in the Nord Pool electricity exchange and also contracts directly with consumers in Finland. All this plays an important role in successfully implementing JSC INTER RAO UES’ strategy on the Scandinavian market.

TURKEY

TGR Enerji

The Company became part of the INTER RAO UES Group in 2005. Soon thereafter, TGR Enerji acquired a wholesale electricity trading license. The company employees work on projects to expand JSC INTER RAO UES business in the Black Sea area.
