INTER RAO UES is committed to improving energy efficiency of energy facilities through development of innovative solutions and use of energy-saving technologies.
INTER RAO UES ensures continuous improvement of energy efficiency at its own facilities by doing the following:
- Reducing cost of purchased energy resources, including peak load reduction
- Increasing competitiveness by reducing share of energy resources in product costs
- Reducing energy losses during transmission and distribution
- Improving environmental sustainability including increased use of "clean" energy sources instead of fuel oil or coal
Target energy efficiency built into 2015 corporate development strategy are focused on meeting the following requirements:
- Improving fuel burning efficiency by a factor of 1.5
- Reducing self-consumed energy to 3–4%
- Improving environmental properties of production assets
- Developing renewable energy technologies
- Creating competitive machine building cluster
A dedicated INTER RAO UES Energy Efficiency Center was established within INTER RAO UES to manage organizational, economical, financial, technical, technological and legal activities required to reduce consumption of energy resources and implement state-of-the-art environmentally safe and energy efficient technologies. The Center should create a complete Russian alternative energy development program in 2011.
INTER RAO UES energy efficiency projects have a strong innovation component and are based on the top international expertise. In addition to conducting our own research and development, we partner with Russian and international industry leaders including Electricite de France and FENICE.
OAO INTER RAO UES has also developed its own energy efficiency development program, the "2014 Energy Efficiency and Energy Savings Program." We are currently reviewing and discussing a number of biological fuel, wind energy and solar energy projects.
